Sunday Night last the 16th of May saw the grand finale of the XYZ Talent Show at Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey.

Over a period of three consecutive weeks acts from all over the North West descended on the twin towns each in the hope of securing the grand prize of €2,000 in cash.

However on Sunday night last six acts had secured that all important place in the grand finale of the talent show and each act performed twice. There were dancers, singers, musicians and over all a great night of huge entertainment was enjoyed by the packed to capacity audience.

Judges on the night included Darragh Kelly, Toni Kelly and Gareth Reid which accounted for 50% of the vote whilst the audience made up the other 50% of the vote.

The six acts were reduced to three when Seanann Wilkie from Letterkenny, Niamh Emmett from Letterkenny and cousin duo Karla Harkin from Derry and Kyle o Neill. There was huge tension as each of the final three acts performed once again and then it was the time when Mary Cunningham the Independent Observer handed the combined votes from the judges and audience alike to host and compere Brian Cunningham.

It was then revealed that Karla Harkin and Kyle O Neill were to uphold the title of the winners of the 2010 XYZ champions.

Speaking following the event Brian Cunningham CEO of the Face of Ireland Competition paid great tribute to the winners and to all the acts that had performed over the previous three weeks. He also paid tribute to the sponsors of the event including Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey, J.J Reid Motors in Letterkenny, Donohue Studios in Letterkenny and The Face of Ireland Competition who had made this event such a success.  He paid tribute to the prizes sponsors including Enda O Rourkela at the Village Tavern in Mountcharles and to all who had helped in any way possible.

He finished by wishing Karla Harkin and Kyle O’ Neill continued success in their talent and told all twelve acts that with the talent that they have they should continue and he looked forward to seeing them on bigger stages in the future.
