About Jacksons Hotel
Jackson's is a family run hotel with husband and wife team Barry and Margaret at the helm.

History
The Hotel has been in the Jackson name since Joseph Jackson (otherwise known as Modest Joe) bought it for the sum of £1250 after leaving the merchant navy. It was Joe Jackson, a sailor, who bought the Hotel just after the War- or at least it was his wife Margaret who actually did the deal. He had gone off to sea leaving her with a list of three pubs and instructions to buy one of them before he returned. She bought Mc Gee's Hotel instead and Joe made the instant transition from merchant seaman to hotelier.

A hard worker and shrewd businessman, he and Margaret built up the business at the eleven bedroom 'commercial hotel', offering a warm bed, a comfortable room and good wholesome food to the commercial travellers who sold drapery, hardware and other goods all over Donegal.

Since 1946 the Hotel has been renovated about every 6-10 years, until today all that really remains of the original 'Magee's Hotel' is the front wall.

The Hotel was founded on mostly commercial business with executives being the main core of guests, however the excellent facilities on offer soon meant many holiday makers were availing of the Hotel and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

The local community has also helped build Jackson's name and clientele and as a result the Donegal Hotel enjoys the regular company of the locals.
